Antidote Art

What is Antidote Art?

Antidote Art is a response to the struggle that comes with being alive. It’s a way through the heavy emotions that burden us all at different points of our life. It’s a coping mechanism for dealing with a stressful society in a modern world plagued with modern problems.

Antidote Art is a creative practice that prioritizes inner truth and honest expression over “perfection” or aesthetic appeal. In other words, it’s about the process not the product.

This includes:

  • Intuitive flow – choosing colors, shapes, and imagery based on an internal pull rather than an aesthetic rule
  • Nonjudgment – quieting the inner critic and letting go of the need for the final piece to look “good”

In a safe and supportive environment, you’ll be free to explore your emotions, express your innermost thoughts, and navigate
personal challenges.

When you participate in Antidote Art, you’ll:

REDUCE STRESS

Artmaking lowers anxiety, calms the nervous system, and releases feel-good brain chemicals (dopamine).

PROCESS EMOTIONS

Creative expression helps you acknowledge and work through difficult emotions for release and healing.

FOSTER MINDFULLNESS

Focusing your attention on your painting helps you stay grounded in the present moment.

STRENGTHEN INTUITION

When you practice intuitive artmaking, this helps you tap into your inner knowing in other areas of life.

Is Antidote Art right for me?

Antidote Art is for anyone curious to explore their thoughts and emotions through creative expression.

I can not stress this enough: You do NOT need to be “good” at art or call yourself an artist or have any clue how to paint. You simply need to be willing to show up. If you have any desire to express yourself creatively, then this is a safe, nonjudgmental space where you are most welcome!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any artistic skill?

None, whatsoever! In fact, it’s often easier for those with less artistic background to focus on the process, not the product, and really pour themselves into the experience.

What if my artwork looks terrifying?

Then we celebrate the expression and release of all those terrifying thoughts and emotions!

What’s my finished piece supposed to look like?

We don’t know what it’s “supposed” to look like…until it’s finished. With intuitive artmaking, your painting flows into exactly what it’s meant to be– a painting infused with the soulful expression of YOU.
